Productivity | Master Your Productivity
Nov 30, 2024Productivity is all about FOCUS, PRIORITIZING YOUR DAILY TASKS & BEING CONSISTENT
Have you ever wondered how some people seem to have 40 hours in their day? They effortlessly manage multiple successful businesses, hit the gym regularly, socialise, and even find time for travelling every other week. It might seem like it, but the truth is, we all have the same 24 hours in our day. The key lies in prioritising our time and, ultimately ourselves.
Still, it’s common to hear people say, “I don’t have time”. This phrase has become the new normal in our society, supporting the idea that constantly being busy and multitasking our days away is the only path to success.
We tend to forget that success will not happen overnight. You must choose & take the correct steps CONSISTENTLY.
The term productivity is something that we hear in both personal and work conversations. Still, most of us believe productivity means “hard work”. But what does being productive mean? Why is it necessary, and how can we boost our productivity?
Today, we live in a world filled with distractions, with multiple devices in front of us, most likely with notifications turned on. But let’s address the biggest distraction of them all: SOCIAL MEDIA. Knowing where we spend our time and how much time we waste by doing nothing is essential. For example: spending multiple hours scrolling aimlessly through Instagram or YouTube, thinking that we are getting things done because we are just looking for inspiration or just looking at some motivational video. But at the end of the day, if you are not applying these teachings, ideas, and motivations to real projects, it only becomes your daily dose of entertainment.
Productivity is NOT about doing more or working harder; it’s about focusing, scheduling, prioritising daily tasks, and maintaining consistency. Simply putting in extra hours or more effort does not guarantee success. The key to success is working smarter and clearly understanding what deserves our attention and action.
Productivity involves managing time, energy, and resources to maximise outcomes and generate desired results. Our most valuable resources are our time & energy, so why waste it thinking about what we wish we had and start taking steps to make those dreams a reality?
When talking about productivity, you will often hear the term CONSISTENCY. Building consistent productivity habits & routines will automatically set you on the path to success. As mentioned earlier, intense work sessions will not help us succeed “quickly”; CONSISTENCY and FOCUS will. These practices will ensure we progress steadily and avoid constant procrastination or burnout.
CLEAR GOAL -> CONSISTENCY -> FOCUS -> DISCIPLINE -> ACTION -> FIXED ROUTINE -> ACHIEVEMENTS
Being consistent helps to build momentum & focus. When we engage in productive activities, we create a positive cycle of accomplishment and motivation. Each small step helps us make the bigger picture, pushing ourselves forward and developing a sense of achievement. By creating a productivity habit, we build discipline, resulting in a fixed routine in our everyday life.
If you’re looking to boost your productivity, here are some strategies/practices that will help optimise your time & energy:
- SET CLEAR GOALS
- PLAN & PRIORITISE
- MANAGE DISTRACTIONS
- BREAK TASKS INTO MANAGEABLE CHUNKS
- TIME BLOCKING
- TAKE REGULAR BREAKS
- PRACTICE SELF-CARE
- CONTINUOUSLY LEARN & IMPROVE
By being productive, it helps us to:
- Meet deadlines
- Accomplish our goals (personally & professionally)
- Fulfill commitments
Remember to experiment with different techniques, identify what works best for you, and adapt as needed. Remember, productivity is not about doing more; it’s about doing what matters most efficiently.
